In contemplating the matter at hand, I could almost hear the voice of the Economist, reminding me about the complexities that shape the desires of a man. The great axiom of the Economist is that man’s wants are insatiable. And perhaps it may be true, but what is man’s greatest need?
I know some will say, Mr. Writer, all I need in this my life is money, plenty of money. But how much money to be exact? Is there a cutoff value?
Some would say a top-notch career. And it’s certainly commendable I think we should be people of excellence, however, the night always comes, when no man can work.
We can go on and on. Certainly, my medical friends will remind me that man needs Oxygen, and that also has merit.
But what is our greatest need? If that’s our expectation, and reasonably so, we can imagine God Almighty looking at humanity and in the demonstration of his intervention in the human situation, gives us his Son. From that, I gather that, if God, the only wise God, as it was thought of such a solution to the human problem, even whilst we didn’t yet even know there was a problem, then we must concede that the Son, therefore is our greatest need. He was all the Wisdom of God forwarded as His input to the situation of mankind
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Our greatest need is the Son. Our Lord Jesus Christ. Good luck to all who are wiser than God, and intend to meet him face to face, armed with their righteousness. And all who navigate through life by their imaginations and devices. The day will reveal it. But of a truth, God is wiser than man.
