I’ve heard people question what the importance or need of sound character is in our lives as individuals. Likewise, I’ve met with Christians who think conversations around being ambassadors of Christ or sticking with Him is unnecessary, while some others get terribly embarrassed or aggressive when publicly linked with the Christian faith.
This leads me to ask, ‘Why?’
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
What do you think will happen to a branch when cut off from its source (tree)? Or have you ever seen any that survived such? No! As much as the world we live in has its ground rules, systems and traditions, we should never loose ourselves to it. Instead, take on the responsibility of proclaiming and exhibiting the character of Christ Jesus.
Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents.
Growing up, I remember how I acted in some childish ways and how disappointed my mum would get when she discovered what I had done. I got spanked a couple of times and overtime I knew I had to stop hurting everyone in my family based on the decisions I was making.
How many times do we draw back from making critical decisions simply because they disappoint God?
“I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.
Do you love God enough to give up the rights you have over your life? He doesn’t expect you to live your life the way you deem it fit. Why not choose to obey?
Perhaps you’re contemplating how safe you’ll be with your life in His hand, simply trust the Father. Let Him remain the chief anchor and driver of your life, because with Him in your boat, you remain on course.
After this, all you have to do is to simply live the God-kind of life with the help of the Holy Spirit!
