It’s very easy to echo the words “trust in the Lord”, and “I trust you Lord”, until we really get to the point where we practically have to trust Him.

I have been there and I have seen and learnt that often times when we say we trust God, we really don’t. We trust people, events, things, promises – and in times when all these things fail, we really do not have the confidence to say “Lord, I trust in you”.
It’s easy to say “Oh, I’m trusting God to provide my school fees” because one of your uncles has promised you the cash. It’s much harder to say “I trust God for the fees” when tomorrow is the deadline and you have no idea where this money is going to come from.
[5] Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
[6] in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
I believe that this is the reason scriptures has said to Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and also went ahead to say lean not on your own understanding.
The times we need to learn to trust God more are the times when we feel we have got it all figured out, when we think we have people or connections who can sort it all out for us, when we feel we have the full qualifications for the job and we feel so sure we’ll get it, when we feel we well prepared for those exams, when we feel we have our own understanding, it is at this point that we all really need to learn to TRUST IN THE LORD.
It is until we have mastered the act of trusting God even when we seemingly have no reason to (or when we think we ‘have it all figured out’) that we can get the best out of God.
It is then that we can live a life full of results, where we won’t be depressed, discouraged or hurt when men, things and understandings fail us – because our trust was not in them all the while but in God.
So Let these words resound in your mind;
“Lean Not On Your Own Understanding.”
