Zero Hesitation!

I recently boarded a tricycle and sat beside a woman and her baby girl who was tied firmly to her back. As soon as the journey started, the child started crying.

The next thing I knew, she was seated comfortably on her mother’s laps with a wide grin on her face. Lol!

[3] Behold, children [are] a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb [is] a reward.
[4] Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So [are] the children of one’s youth.

Psalm 127:3-4 (NKJV)

Have you ever come across a happy child who doesn’t give a thought about anything in his or her environment? This perfectly describes the child all through the journey.

She was lost in her own world where contentment ruled supreme. Despite the bumps, turns, traffic and heat, she kept speaking her own language (which her mother seemed to understand anyway) and played with anything she found – including my hand. Lol!

“Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.”

Matthew 18:10 (NKJV)

I found it really fascinating because no matter how tired I was, I was fine with hearing her ‘talk’ from time to time, with her pulling my wrist beads out of fascination and witnessing her mother’s constant correction which she adhered to (but only for a while).

This took me back to man’s growth as a son with God, the Father. As a child, He always had you ‘strapped on His back’, seated in His laps and fed from His palms. Beautiful, right?

Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.

Luke 2:52 (NLT)

Through series of corrections, you learnt not to disobey instructions; you GREW! But as soon as you get old enough to stand on your own without help, to fend for yourself, you lost your sense of dependability. How sad!

Now, some believers find some instructions too simple to obey. You can’t imagine that, right?

[8] My son, hear the instruction of your father; reject not nor forsake the teaching of your mother.
[9] For they are a [victor’s] chaplet (garland) of grace upon your head and chains and pendants [of gold worn by kings] for your neck.

Proverbs 1:8-9 (AMP)

Truth is, an instruction is an instruction, no matter the manner through which it comes, how long it took you to realize its meaning, or how fast you adhere to it.

Have you received an instruction through God’s word that has been a bit tough to obey? Remember: He knew you even while you were yet unborn, He can’t lead you astray. Go through the path He creates for you without hesitating, and you’ll rejoice in obedience. Shalom!
