Stain Free!

On my way out to an engagement today, I left my room draped in a nice white dress. It was appropriate for the occasion because that was the color code.

How shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed and keeping watch [on himself] according to Your word [conforming his life to it].

Psalm 119:9 (AMP)

As soon as I stepped out of the flat, I saw that the ground was wet and immediately I remembered that it rained in the early hours of the morning. The sky was still cloudy and I became concerned.

Concerned about what? You’re about to find out… I stepped out of the gate and behold, it was really muddy. There were pools of water on all around. How was I to escape getting stains on my white dress?

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God [is] faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear [it.]

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV)

As I started calculating how I was going to get to my destination stain-free, I remembered that three of my neighbors differently mentioned how good I looked in the dress but they advised that I wear a casual outfit in the meantime.

After contemplating and weighing my options, I went back into the house, put on a casual outfit and packed my white dress in a bag which I carried with me.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV)

True to the multiple heads-up I got, the bike ride to my destination wasn’t free of mud splashing here and there on my outfit. I was grateful for those looking out for me – and most of all, that I listened.

If I had considered the fact that I didn’t want to carry extra luggage, I would have really gotten my (huge) share of mud stains on my pretty dress.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship.

Romans 12:1 (NIV)

As a child of God, you should daily flee from whatsoever tries to lure you into guilt and sin. How fast do you retreat from situations, people, environments, thought or ideologies that pull you away from the path of salvation?

What’s hindering you from living a holy and acceptable life unto God?

It is time for you to hold fast to your first love and the values you received. Steer clear of everything and anything that wants to draw you back, stay on your course of holiness today!

How shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed and keeping watch [on himself] according to Your word [conforming his life to it].

Psalm 119:9 (MSG)
