The Incorruptible Mind.

Being humans, our minds naturally tread the downward slope leading to gross corruption.

I’ll compare corruption to bribery: Many people have, at different occasions, felt like bribing their way in getting something of utmost importance to them. This is because they have esteemed that thing so much that they’re willing to use either illegal or immoral means to get it.

The battle of the mind against corruption is a real battle that we all fight daily, whether we choose to acknowledge it or not, and this is because the devil was crafty enough to begin to leverage on the minds of men. Many a time, we find that we are surrounded by evil and corrupt practices; this is because the minds and hearts of these men are already corrupt.

This should not be found amidst God’s beloved.

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires.

Ephesians 4:22 (NIV)

Believers, as a royal priesthood, should have a desire for and willingness to obey God’s word completely, seeing that we have left the former way of life – a life lived subjected to evil and deceitful desires.

After acknowledging that the ‘Old Man’ (corruptible nature) has been put away, there should be a consciousness of our new nature (identity in Christ), and this should be plainly evident to our family, colleagues, friends, and loved ones, so that as regards to corruption they will be able to say of us; “Certainly not! He or She is of Christ, with an incorruptible mind.”

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation, has come, the old has gone, the new is here.

2nd Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
