Spirit Code

Just very recently, I had to go visit my friend who I hadn’t seen in a long while. As soon as I embarked on this journey, I had a few road routes somewhere in my head.

I wasn’t fully familiar with the best route to the place but I had an idea about it, so I knew I had to be extra alert as the vehicle moved.

Proverbs 20:24
[24] Man’s steps are ordered by the Lord. How then can a man understand his way?
(AMP)

We got to a point on the road and someone had to alight, I felt the need to do so myself too and also the strong urge to ask the passenger beside me but I didn’t.

I hoped I was right, so I got to the last bus stop and finally alighted. Then I realized I was at the wrong place and I had missed my way, well, I ended up asking someone for direction. Eventually, I knew I had lost time and had spent more money, only to discover that I had to do a ‘merry-go-round’ back to the point I should have alighted initially. A graphic way to have learnt a lesson right? 😭

Jeremiah 10:23
[23] O Lord [pleads Jeremiah in the name of the people], I know that the way of a man is not in himself; it is not in man [even in a strong man or in a man at his best] to direct his [own] steps.

Sometimes, after a Christian starts to grow in the spiritual race, a feeling of attainment starts to set in. This isn’t all wrong in itself, the only way it can go wrong is when you become full of your and in how much you have grown.

Spiritual growth is great, infact, it is one of the main things that makes God happy with His children. As much as He delights in your spiritual development and increase, don’t get to a point where He speaks in the simplest of ways and you think you’ve got it covered all by yourself.

Jeremiah 7:23
[23] But I did say this, commanded this: “Obey me. Do what I say and I will be your God and you will be my people. Live the way I tell you. Do what I command so that your lives will go well.”
(MSG)

Journeying with God requires total obedience and zero percent of self. Remember, He is the one working in you till the very end. Obedience can make you look illogical and immature, because to some, only a child obeys instructions, while an adult doesn’t have to answer to anybody.

Well, on your spiritual walk with God, the more you’re able to take instructions from Him, the more mature you become. This is a spiritual code and you should do your best to live by it if you desire growth in your journey.

Colossians 1:9-10
[9] So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.
[10] Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
