What becomes of life without the ability to measure progress, growth, or determine speed?
With all this going for us, my dear, dear friends, stand your ground. And don’t hold back. Throw yourselves into the work of the Master, confident that nothing you do for him is a waste of time or effort.1 Corinthians 15:58 (MSG)
How then would humans recognize how far they’ve gone with their pursuits? How would you know a plant is looking better than it was looking a while ago? Change right? What if change isn’t recognized at all when it happens?
On a journey back to town recently, I was in a tricycle that took interstate rides all day. It was a journey that took roughly 30 minutes (without the traffic factor though) and the journey started smooth.
Until we approached a hilly part of the road and then the struggle began! The tricycle started experiencing a challenge of moving upward the slope and the driver kept struggling with his wheel to ensure it moved.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but [only] one receives the prize? So run [your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours.1 Corinthians 9:24 (MSG)
The struggle happened for a few minutes, and soon enough, the driver succeeded moving us up that slope. Once we moved up, the tricycle stopped all of a sudden. We (the passengers) asked the driver what the problem was and he said he wasn’t sure. Someone then asked if there was enough fuel in the tank, and he said the fuel gauge is bad so he couldn’t tell.
Everyone was shocked at his response. How could you drive on the expressway without a fuel gauge? How do you know when you’re running out of fuel?
Now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temperately and restricts himself in all things. They do it to win a wreath that will soon wither, but we [do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness] that cannot wither.1 Corinthians 9:25 (AMP)
So many believers today live their lives without a sense of consciousness about the level of uprightness in the Christian faith. How do you tell when you’re not on track with the Father anymore?
You need to keep continuous and consistent check on your stand in the faith. Not because of anyone else, but for you. Don’t wait until you fall before taking precautions.
Let me warn you therefore, beloved, that knowing these things beforehand, you should be on your guard, lest you be carried away by the error of lawless and wicked [persons and] fall from your own [present] firm condition [your own steadfastness of mind].2 Peter 3:17 (AMP)
Level up, keep your relationship with the Holy Spirit strong always and you’ll be good to go for rainy days. Happy New June!
