Recently I had a thought about the kind of heart Daniel had even after some of the experiences he had gone through at different points in his lifetime.

Then they said, “Daniel, one of the Jewish exiles, ignores you, O king, and defies your decree. Three times a day he prays.”

Daniel 6:13 (MSG)

Daniel’s experience in the Lion’s den contains critical life lessons and I’d like to share few of them with you today.

One spectacular thing about the man Daniel was his high-leveled intelligence which distinguished him among his equals, even in a strange land.

But Daniel, brimming with spirit and intelligence, so completely outclassed the other vice-regents and governors that the king decided to put him in charge of the whole kingdom.

Daniel 6:3 (MSG)

Daniel undeniably outclassed the others with the level of wisdom he possessed and the kind of results he produced. This provoked a next grade change of level for him from the King.

What upgrade have you been expecting? Have you tried putting in the best of resources (prayers, studying and upscaling) to sharpen yourself, skill-wise and character-wise? Whatsoever God has placed in your hands to work with in this season, make sure you make Him proud.

The vice-regents and governors got together to find some old scandal or skeleton in Daniel’s life that they could use against him, but they couldn’t dig up anything. He was totally exemplary and trustworthy. They could find no evidence of negligence or misconduct.

Daniel 6:4 (MSG)

These vice-regents and governors put a lot of effort into disposing Daniel. Unknown to them, however, they were characters in Daniel’s life meant to make his life story spectacular, to bring Glory to God and to inspire us.

In life, be aware that there’ll be people who won’t like you. Some of them may have their special reasons to, others may not. Do you currently have these set of people in your life? Then, you have to learn from the story of Daniel.

Just like Daniel, the only thing you should put your focus and energy on is your faith, which has God right at the center. Don’t waste your energy on the irrelevant, your God will sort you out.

“My God sent his angel, who closed the mouths of the lions so that they would not hurt me. I’ve been found innocent before God and also before you, O king. I’ve done nothing to harm you.”

Daniel 6:22 (MSG)
