A Troop Cometh…

Have you ever played football? Or have you been a spectator of any team while they played? If yes, then you’ll get a vivid picture of what’s about to come next:

I was watching different teams play football recently and it was a series of short games; Once a team scored a goal, the other team exited the field for another team to compete.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

Hebrews 12:1 (NLT)

While this was fun for those in the crowd, I could tell that the players were burning a lot of energy – but they never relented. Giving up wasn’t an option for any of the teams and it was obvious in how fast it took any player who fell to get back on his feet.

Dear soldier, how many times have you fallen? How many times have you been too weary to get back on your feet? For how long will you remain defeated on your face?

Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.

Philippians 4:13 (NLT)

The football teams in the illustration earlier represent troops of Christian soldiers who were on a mission to conquer territories and win souls over to the kingdom of light.

Each troop is filled with soldiers heavily equipped with tactical skills, wisdom and weapons, while the pitch represents the world where series of events happen.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV)

No matter how many times you have been hit by the fiery darts of the enemy, you have to keep moving. It’s okay to get tired in the days of heavy storm and to seek shelter, but not okay to move alone.

Move with your fellow soldiers and together, victory will be established over and again through you. The enemy will fall flat on his face because he didn’t see you coming… A Troop cometh!
