Running To You…

Oh! A man like David! What do you think He must have done to have earned the description you and I know today from the Almighty God? God referred to David as a man after His own heart.

Acts 13:22

[22] And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.
(KJV)

I have always wondered and tried to figure out what exactly David did to God to have gotten that kind of exceptional remark. Did He get to touch God’s ‘soft spot’ with the Psalms he wrote? Or was it way he kept running back to God after he goes wrong?

Psalm 120:1-2

[1] In my distress I cried unto the Lord , and he heard me.
[2] Deliver my soul, O Lord , from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
(KJV)

When the Lord directed Samuel to the house of Jesse, there were seven good looking and well-built young men who definitely had other impressive qualifications. With all of these things the eyes can see, the Lord didn’t choose them instead He chose David to be anointed King of Israel. To think Samuel said “Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.” [11]

1 Samuel 16:12-13

[12] And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the Lord said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.
[13] Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.
(KJV)

David was a man who was willing to submit to the commandments of God, even after going wrong, he was lowly enough to always go back to His Father without holding back. What a state!

He kept pursuing, he kept running after God’s love and never grew weary. What’s the state of your heart? Are you burning hot in love for God? Or have you grown ice cold? Go back to Him, remember His love for you remains constant.
