The Prince Of Egypt (IV) – Out Of His Comfort Zone

Here was Moses, a father of two lovely boys, married to a Medianite stunner who was the daughter of one of the highest authorities in the land of Median, and with a full time job of herding a flock of sheep. He may no longer have been a Prince of Egypt, but Moses was in a very good place. He was living the perfect life.

The truth is, Moses was where God wanted him to be at that time, learning things that he would never have learnt as a Prince in Egypt, e.g. patience in leading a stubborn herd through difficult terrain, coping with harsh desert weather conditions- leading a rough life in general.

While Moses’ mistake may have seemingly spoiled things, God in His Omniscience was working through all of this to fashion a deliverer for His people.

It was in Moses’ faithful day-to-day routine that God gave him a supernatural encounter. And what was probably the most peaceful period in Moses’ life gave way to a period more, uhm, “interesting” than what he was used to.

One day Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God. There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from the middle of a bush. Moses stared in amazement.

(Exodus 3:1-2, NLT)

In this meeting with God, he got introduced to what exactly his life’s purpose was. And like most of us are wont to do, Moses came up with a thousand and one reasons why he wasn’t qualified for the job. I’m pretty sure his failed attempt at delivering his people some 40 years ago kept playing in his head as God was calling him. The swashbuckling fresh prince of Egypt had become a tongue tied stammering shepherd.

But God made it clear to him (as He is making clear to you) that all Moses needed to fulfill purpose he had. The power (Exodus 4:1-9), the heavenly backing (Exodus 3:12), the human assistance (Exodus 4:14-16)- everything!

Perhaps you’re struggling to leave your comfort zone and obey the call of God over your life. Or perhaps you’re struggling to overcome the failures of the past that keep on shackling your future. God wants you to know that Heaven is on your side and is heavily rooting for you.

The devil knows that the odds are heavily stacked in your favor and will thus continue to do everything possible to keep your eyes fixed on all the reasons why you can’t be all God has called you.

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.

(2 Peter 1:3, NLT)

Fix your heart on God’s heart for you.

Though the bush was engulfed in flames, it didn’t burn up.

That ☝️☝️ is you child of God, that is you!
