Seasons

There are several definitions of the word ‘Season’ in the Merriam-Webster English dictionary. However, for this post, this will be our working definition:

a time characterized by a particular circumstance or feature

Essentially, it is a set time in which certain specific possibilities are designed to find expression. And this is important. For instance, it provides anticipation and serves as a ground for expectations.

It also helps planning. If we know what is ahead, in terms of season, we are better able to prepare ourselves to be best positioned to deal with the features of that season.

There is also a measure of certainty built into seasons, because we know that regardless of what holds sway now, times will change, tides will turn. It will get better or worse. And that in itself perhaps helps stability.

But therein lies a challenges. Seasons imply change. Change implies crisis. Crisis demands response. Crisis demands adaptability. Our ability to maximize seasons depends on our ability to maximize our current state, see ahead and prepare appropriately.

Most times, we buckle under the pressure of a current season, without recognizing that it will change. The pressure robs us of the ability to move into the next level, thus we might enter into a new season with a disadvantage sustained in the previous season.

Seasons most in generally are tied to time. However, time has a fundamental metric and a positional metric. By fundamental metric I mean, Second, minutes, hours etc. By positional, I mean time in relation to where you are in life. So if you are married, for instance, there are seasons tied to being married that would not be relevant or available to you if you were single.

Ecclesiastes 3:1
[1]To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

This is a law as far as the earth is concerned. Everything is tied to a season. Everything. Every purpose is tied to a time. This is not a fatalist statement. It is not to suggest to you that your time has passed or what not. Remember, as long as it is day, man can work. I pray that the Lord will grant us understanding.

What this means is that, when there is a thing to be done, you can provoke the seasons, you can by the mercies of God, set things that in motion that will birth forth the legislated outcome. Keep in mind, the dimensions of time. It means that, provided there is time, then purpose is still in view.

You can’t do anything, anytime. The Earth isn’t designed to honor or respond to such investment. Accurate labor will be along the lines of discernment and consistency: doing what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, for as along as it needs to be done.

In going through seasons, our preparedness, awareness, adaptability and patience are critical tools. They influence the outcome.

Seasons come, seasons go. What manner of people we would be after them is the only real uncertainty.
