Have you ever deeply thought about what God meant when He called you a ‘city set on a hill that can never be hidden’? Or what He had in mind when He said you are salt and light?

Matthew 5:13

[13] “Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.

During the week, I was on my way back from work when I saw a young man on a bright-shaded T-shirt, I loved the color and how patterns sprawled all over it. Soon, I noticed something that changed how I felt. The shirt carried an inscription on the back that read “Satan loves me very much!”. I was perplexed! 😕

How could someone carry that kind of message all around town without feeling a type of way? Or didn’t he know how to read? Or he ran out of clothing options? I tried my best to make excuses for him.

Matthew 5:14

[14] “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.

Then, I remembered recently coming across a set of T-shirts online. They were displayed in a beautiful manner and came in variants of attractive colors. What I loved the most about them were the inscriptions on each shirt. The messages they passed across instantly made me want to get one for myself.

Putting these experiences side-by-side made me realize the more that God wants His children to use their platforms and influence to spread the good news.

Matthew 5:15

[15] If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand.

Beloved, the Father has magnanimously bestowed upon you a platform, a circle of influence, a network, a strong financial grip, a voice, a gift, and a creative mind. All of these are healthy and good for you but what more do you want to do with that which you have been given? Don’t just live for yourself, spread the colors of the good news! 🌈

Matthew 5:16

[16]  Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand–shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.
