Tri-Part

We continue in our series of discussion on Man. We previously covered a few things. You can find them here and here. They make for a good background to the issue that I intend to raise in this present discuss.

In our last discussion, we concluded by stating clearly that Man is essentially a tripartite being. A composite being of Spirit, Soul and Body.

[23]And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:23

Why is this important?

In today’s world, it is a truth of epic proportions.

Why is this so?

Because most of the gender-based issues that are increasingly gaining prominence would become non-issues, if this truth was understood.

The creation of Man was as it were was in phases. Phase one was captured in:

Genesis 1:26-27

[26]And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
[27]So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

It captures the creation of the Spirit component of man. It is to this part of man that the Creator’s mandate was committed. Now this is where it gets critical, so stay with me. Notice that everytime in this chapter that God speaks of a singular man – him, he follows it up with a plurality – them.

This is an important distinction. So whilst it was to, as it were, a single created entity that his addresses were made, when it came to the expression of those realities, a plurality was needed.

God had a plurality in mind. And he didn’t leave this to our imagination. He stated the form of this plurality, he called them: Male and Female. So whilst the Creator’s mandate was enshrined in the Spirit component of man, the mediums of manifestation would be dual: Male and Female.

Now a question that has been asked is this: ‘Are male and females equal?’

I have generally responded by saying that 1 and 2 are equal because they are both numbers, but 1 isn’t equal to 2. If you disagree, add a few 0s after the numbers, and it would solve the problem.

Let’s bear in mind that whilst at the spirit level, we are dealing with the same stuff. Remember Man is Spirit, Soul and body. And at those other levels there are differences. Significant differences designed to ensure either Male or female, the mandate will not suffer distortion or deficiency.

A lack of understanding of this design model has lead to the perpetual subjugation of females by males and the revolt of the females against the males. Both are wronged. It’s in partnership and fellowship that we’ll make manifest the mandate of the Creator.

Man is relational, whether he likes it or not. Unfortunately Man has abused his reality. All we are largely left with is strife and competition. Pure and unadulterated.
