Chain Of Obedience…

Joseph was told by an Angel that his fiancée (I think that’s what she would have been tagged as in this contemporary age), Mary, was pregnant and that he should name the child, ‘Jesus’.

Matthew 1:20-21

[20] But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

[21] “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”
(NKJV)

This was a vital information which, though alarming to the human mind, ended up serving as a guide to the role he played in the Messiah’s birth. Joseph obeyed!

Matthew 1:24-25

[24] Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to him his wife,

[25] and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.
(NKJV)

Then, the three wise men didn’t break the chain of obedience. They followed all the way through; From the night they saw the star till they went to Jerusalem to inquire from Herod up until they presented the gifts to Jesus, they didn’t put themselves first.

Matthew 2:12

[12] Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.
(NKJV)

All of these occurrences had been properly planned by God. It took a chain processes for Jesus to have been saved from the dark jealousy of King Herod. What would have happened if Joseph decided not to leave Jerusalem when he was instructed to?

Matthew 2:13-14

[13] Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”

[14] When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt.
(NKJV)

There are times you are faced with making decisions based on instructions and what you know is right. As much as instinct leads sometimes, it pays to act based on instructions according to the word of God.

Don’t break the chain of obedience. Who knows whose destiny, safety or breakthrough is attached to the decisions you make today?
