A Given!

As believers, while our perfect example was here, He left you and me legacies. These legacies are templates of the very life He lived on earth as a man, they serve as footprints imprinted on the sand of time for you to follow, so your life should reflect Him.

Philippians 4:9

[9] Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

Everything about the scripture is always beyond the calculations of the human mind. What crossed your mind the very first time you heard something about giving out of the little you have? I mean having so little you can’t imagine how you’d survive sparing anything from it?

1 John 3:17

[17] If you see some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God’s love? It disappears. And you made it disappear.

Men have experienced giving and some have concluded that when you give, it opens up doors for receiving more. As true as this might sound, giving should never be done just with such intent and such expected outcome.

Mother Teresa

It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.

Slowly, man’s life has been conditioned into a box where his heart is filled with selfish expectations rather than living a life that breathes kindness, and empathy. Putting yourself in other people’s shoes (I mean situations of course 😅), seeing the world through their eyes and trying to help in any way you can, with the purest of intentions relieves you of the toxicity in the world today.

Proverbs 28:27

[27] Be generous to the poor–you’ll never go hungry; shut your eyes to their needs, and run a gauntlet of curses.

Taking a closer look at Jesus, I sometimes wonder what kind of a heart He had when He was a man, He never walked away from the people in need. There was always compassion in His heart for them, this made Him put them first before Himself.

Proverbs 11:25

[25]  The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.

A misconception in this dispensation is that giving connotes things of material and physical attributes. You necessarily don’t have to give money or material things to others, give as much as your time, your smile, your love, your attention or affection, your friendship, your prayers, your concern… The list is endless!

Hebrews 13:16

[16] And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Come to think about it, you weren’t gifted your beautiful smile that is capable of brightening up people’s lives for fun! Let the Father guide you about sharing and giving to others… Give your gift. It’s a given!

If you have much, give of your wealth; if you have little, give of your heart.
