The Appointment

We all go through life differently, shaped by our faith, convictions, family, environment, etc. It seems that something we have in common is the divergence of our experiences. But as we interact with each other, we discover that even in the divergence that is a common thread, a common effect, a common denominator that we all seem to implicitly experience, which we hardly sometimes realize until we share our stories. A simple example is the Nigerian mum stories. When Nigerians share their mummy stories, we find it interesting that most of us have similar stories even though our mothers have never met each other neither were they taught those things as a collective. Thus even in our divergence, we find that we converge, we see unity.

Such is the story of our origin, our life experience, and also the termination of life. Well, death seems to be the terminal point for all, but if life has a purpose, if it has a goal and a direction, if it has rules and laws, which indeed it does have, then death can’t be the ultimate end, well at least not the death that you know.

There is an appointment that we all are going to keep, it’s already scheduled, it is yet again another point of convergence, we may arrive at it through different routes as it were, but arrive we will:

Acts 17:30-31
[30]And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
[31]Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

This appointed day is set, it’s for all the world, every man, every woman, whether they believe it or not. Just in case you wonder out loud as to the proof of the certainty of this appointment, such uncertainty was dealt with by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Partaking in this appointment has nothing to be with your belief. Your belief only influences the outcome of the day. Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only modifier of the outcome of that great day. You can believe today, for we know how that day will play out, God made it clear.

Revelation 20:11-15
[11]And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
[12]And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
[13]And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
[14]And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
[15]And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

This is no fairy tale, it is as certain as the air you breathe. You can make a decision. Now is the time. Today is the day. There is yet no tomorrow, don’t count on it.
