Peace Like No Other

Imagine yourself taking a break from the busy schedules, from work and other demands of life, to go on a boat trip or a cruise with your family. While on the sea, a turbulent storm strikes. Everyone gets scared and starts screaming for help. The Captain and the crew members all of a sudden are nowhere to be found. In anxiety, you try all you can to find the Captain, and when you meet him soundly asleep in his cabin. At this point, what comes to your mind?

Matthew 8:27
[27] And the men were stunned with bewildered wonder and marveled, saying, What kind of Man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him!

I would be totally amused! Who sleeps in the midst of a turbulent storm? A storm threatening so hard to sink the ship that serves as a place of safety? A man whose heart is stayed on Christ! Jesus Christ is the perfect example of every situation we might find ourselves as children of God. Think you’re going through turbulent times? Christ has been through more, so He understands perfectly.

Isaiah 26:3
[3] You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.

There was a time in my life when I was extremely scared of the dark. I couldn’t enter dark rooms myself or remain in a dark environment for long, I couldn’t even run errands once it was dark.

This was a result of so many things that had unconsciously erected thoughts in my head and I had believed them. It was until situations that warranted me staying in rooms without lighting came up, I knew I had to develop a coping mechanism. I decided to start thinking about exciting things or memories once I found myself in scary places or situations. Guess what? It has worked for me for so long!

Isaiah 43:2
[2]When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you.

Peace is a promise from God to you. As much as it sounds impossible not to fret in troubling times, this is what your communion with the Holy Spirit produces. Peace! Rest! Total confidence in the One who created you and knows you more than you know yourself! So, take your relationship with Him to the next level and experience peace like no other.

Psalm 34:4
[4] I sought (inquired of) the Lord and required Him [of necessity and on the authority of His Word], and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
