The “Arky Arky” Song

So, how old were you when you first knew that the song “Arise and shine, and give God the glory glory” was actually a song telling the story of Noah and his ark, with which God saved the animals and people who believed his message of a coming flood? πŸ˜„πŸ˜„. You can check out the full song here (the full song is even more interesting πŸ˜‰).

Hebrews 11:7
“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”

Noah is listed as one of the elders of Faith, a part of the Clouds of witnesses (Heb. 12:1), whose lives were lived out in faith and now serve as examples to us on how to walk the faith walk even as we look on the Author and Finisher of our Faith. In a way, Noah was the first “evangelist” (2 Peter 2:5) and amongst other things, served as a foreshadowing for us now, on the importance of preaching the Gospel to people to come into the Ark (which is Jesus), and be saved from eternal damnation.

Dear believer, I can imagine how difficult it may be to live the Christian Life and speak up about the Gospel, especially in this generation that is hell-bent on pleasing self alone. But it was just as difficult for Noah. In the whole wide world, Noah didn’t have anyone else who shared his beliefs. He didn’t have anyone else he could call a “Brother/sister in the Lord”. Yet, he obeyed God and built an ark to save all who believed, and he was not ashamed to speak out concerning the watery destruction that was to visit the Earth because of the sins of man.

We know that eternal destruction awaits as many who are not saved by Faith. We know that Jesus is that Ark who saves. Let’s not keep this saving knowledge to ourselves. Let’s not hide this light under a “bushel”. Let love for lost souls, and reverent fear of what is to come, be our driving force (2 Corinthians 5:11). You may not be able to preach the Gospel to the whole world, and get everyone saved, but how about starting with your immediate family, then extended family and all your friends. Imagine if every Christian gets their families and friends saved?

Arise and Shine the Light of Jesus. Men will see it, and by the help of the Holy Spirit, they will come to the saving knowledge of Jesus. And not only will they glorify God for you, but their lives will then be able to “give God the glory!”.
