Recently, I got hooked by a specific statement that was directed to me by a big sister who I hadn’t heard from in a while. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Who was the first man in history this statement was made to? Permit me to take you on a journey!

Genesis 15:1
[1] After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”
(NIV)
Abraham! Yes, the Father of many nations! God Himself told him that He is his (Abraham’s) VERY GREAT REWARD, isn’t that mind boogling? I mean, just try to imagine how Abraham must have felt hearing this from God. Even though he had to probe further, at the end, he believed.
So, at the point where I was told “God is your reward”, it sounded very surreal to me and I was taken aback. “Why would someone say something so heavy and deep, just because I did a simple thing?”, I thought. I wondered if it was true and thought about it literally. Some days later, I got my answer.
Numbers 18:20
[20] And the Lord said to Aaron, You shall have no inheritance in the land [of the Israelites], neither shall you have any part among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the Israelites.
(AMP)
The word ‘Reward’ is tied around tangible benefits for acts carried out. For example, an employee’s reward for working is the salary plus other additional packages. Just as He promised our Fathers and Mothers of old , the idea around the Almighty God being your reward is real.
Hebrews 11:6
[6] But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].
(AMP)
Beyond reasonable doubt, God wants us, His children, to have satisfying gulps from the cup of His person. God is inexhaustible, therefore, our reward is boundless.
For all your toil and labor, no physical reward can be enough or compared to the everlasting satisfaction your soul gets, from the assurance that the totality of God is your reward! Halleluyah!!!
Therefore, your eyes and mind should never be fixed on the earthly benefits and advantages. Keep your eyes fixed on God, who is your reward and your rewarder! Let this truth fuel your every action, decision and lifestyle. Never doubt it! Keep believing it!! God is your reward!!!
Matthew 6:33
[33] But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.

This is beautiful and amazingly insightful! Welldone Tabitha

Profound!!! This is the what we have in the new covenant. Hence, we do all we do for the Lord’s sake (as apostle Paul taught). Thanks for sharing this truth Dee. More insights into God’s word in Jesus name.
