The Attraction

On my usual route back home from work, an aroma found its way through different obstacles and eventually got to me. It didn’t mind that I was actually sweaty and tired of the evening traffic, it was strong and filled the bus and my nostrils with its scent.

Romans 12:1
[1] I appeal to you, therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well-pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

I couldn’t help myself from searching almost immediately, as I tried to locate where the aroma was coming from. Looked to the left and right, nothing in sight. It was until I did a forward and backward scan before I found it! A bakery!

Just imagine God the Father, getting excited and pleased from the incense our lives exude. What emotion would fill your heart when you find out that your life has become a strong point of attraction to God? Joy? This is a basic requirement from God to His children; to please Him with the entirety of our lives. Quit placing a restriction on some areas of your life where you think can be directed the way you please. Strive to daily please Him!

Ephesians 5:10
[10] And try to learn [in your experience] what is pleasing to the Lord [let your lives be constant proofs of what is most acceptable to Him].

Get accustomed to always finding out per time how He wants you to react to events and situations, enough of doing things your way or living your life to please people. Live to make your heavenly Father proud. From the way you think to the way you talk. The choices you make and the actions you take. Don’t concern yourself with the unnecessary baggage the world throws at you, the ultimate goal should be to please God.

Romans 8:8
[8] So then those who are living the life of the flesh [catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him.

Stay pure and consecrated. Stay away from filth and every form of contamination. Taking this walk with the Holy Spirit makes it a lot easier as He is there to always lead you into all truth. He helps our minds to be renewed and refreshed after the desires of God. Live a spirit controlled life, so that at the end of your journey God can proudly refer to you as His beloved and welcome you with open arms. Be God’s attraction!
