Staying Strong

While growing up as children, there are stages of growth that have been termed fundamental to our all round development. Every child starts from crawling, then learning to sit and stand properly without support from anyone, before making attempts to take a first step based on intuition and observations from his or her primary environment. So also are there levels to our growth as Christians.

1 Peter 2:2
[2] Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation.
(AMP)

I’d like to share a meaningful conclusion drawn from a conversation some days ago. As an individual, it’ll be dangerous to your health when you go a day or days without eating. Now let’s place this side by side with our “consumption” of God’s word. Sometimes, we go without studying God’s word for days or even weeks and we feel relaxed, not knowing that an important way to unravel the mystery and to activate the power behind the life of dominion we’ve been called to, is to feed on the word.

Joshua 1:8
[8] Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
(NIV)

Just like you would get hungry in a space of hours without physical food, start seeing God’s word as food to your spirit. Keeping at the back of your mind what happens to a man who starves himself of food either deliberately or not.

John 14:16
[16] And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever
(AMP)

The role the precious Holy Spirit plays in our growth process should never be put aside. While I was in school, I had teachers who taught me the basics of all I know today and I’m glad I understood the secret behind obeying such teachers. Taking my time to listen and putting extra efforts in obeying their instructions moulded me in the best ways you can think of.

John 14:26
[26] But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
(NIV)

Such is what God desired when He gave us His Spirit to teach us all things, He is in us to help us attain our predestined height and to make life simpler for us to live. So the more we obey and follow the Holy Spirit, the more we grow into maturity and stature. Our battles get won faster and we grow stronger in the place of dominion!
