While You Wait

From time immemorial, God has always been particular about men waiting on Him for different issues of life. This is because a man’s level of obedience and trust in the sovereign being is revealed while he waits.

Patriarchs and matriarchs of faith ahead of us must have paid the “waiting” price at one point or numerous ones in their lives. Some of their stories we’ve heard, read or seen. Are you in that waiting point right now and you feel you’ve been there for too long? Keep trusting in the One who has time and seasons in His hands.

The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him [inquire of and for Him and require Him by right of necessity and on the authority of God’s word]. It is good that one should hope in and wait quietly for the salvation (the safety and ease) of the Lord.

Lamentation 3:25-26

As believers, whenever we read the scriptures, we should always pay undivided attention to every word we come across and let them sink deep into us until they become life and light up our paths.

In the quoted Bible passage above, it is brought to our notice that it isn’t just about waiting but how we wait! Waiting on God requires total trust, humility, hope, patience, and endurance. So in the waiting process, try as much as you can to understand all that’s required of you so as not to render your initial obedience useless. Lack of understanding is what makes a man ask a thousand and one questions which creates panic and doubt in his heart by the time he doesn’t get answers when all God simply wants from him in that waiting process is to be quiet and listen to Him speak or watch Him move.

But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.

Romans 8:25

While you’re waiting, fix your gaze on the One who created you. Seek Him wholeheartedly and raise incense in the place of praise and prayer. There’s enough strength to see you through.

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

Isaiah 40:31
