Mustard Faith

Hopes. Dreams. Aspirations. The variables of life. The destinations and attendant feelings of fulfillment. A whole lot of people seem to be caught up in such myriads. There is a common thread, a common question, a common point of probable pause.

What makes the impossible, possible?

Several times, the limitations on that which we find expressed in our lives in contrast with the actual possibilities we hold in our thoughts stem from the persistent inability to make the leap from one end of the spectrum to the other.

So what is required for us to make that leap?

Matt 17:20

So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you

That requirement is Faith. It’s Faith that makes the leap possible. It changes the entire dynamic. The idea really isn’t that of small faith versus big faith, at its most fundamental level, we are dealing with Faith in its wholeness, its completeness.

Any iota of faith, in its package, is capable of achieving the results demanded of it, for faith in itself is not an end, but rather a conduit, connecting us to the power that makes all things possible. It brings us into an allegiance to the Almighty, for we reckon, with God all things are possible. Faith is our access point to the immense possibilities that abound in God, His presence that transforms the impossible.

So, what we need today is not wait for a time when we have a jumbo-sized faith, but rather any size of faith stemming from our trust of God and His perspective of the demand before us is sufficient to produce the expected results.

Have faith in God.

  1. Faith is the bridge that connects the now with the future.
A bridge, whether long or short, surely takes us from one side of the ditch or river to the other. So also, faith, whether “small or big” is complete when it’s solely on God and can bring great results.
