Life depends on the…Liver

In the good old days, when I was much younger, but I suppose it still happens now. Anytime my friends wanted to get me to do something, I ordinarily would not do (not anything illegal or wrong), something that requires some degree of boldness and courage, something I am afraid of doing, they will taunt me by saying: “you no get liver”. Almost as if to say, guy, you don’t have the requisite boldness to meet the demands before you. I wonder who made the connection between having “liver” and being able to face the challenges of life head-on. At any rate, it is in that context I refer to the liver- the courage factor.

Being fearless and courageous, I find these are important components of a man’s response system. Truthfully speaking life can appear intimidating, daunting, unyielding in fact downright immovable. But there is a hack, despite all the storms and the roars of life, it is observed that if you stand your ground and face it, you will discover ultimately that just as the ice melts when the heat is on, so also the thunderings of life will fade away quietly.
Several times in the Bible we find things like-

Be strong and Courageous
It is almost always found when God’s people are facing a situation in which the odds are stacked against them to high heaven. Of course, He has plans of intervening on their behalf, so I wonder why He then requires them to Be strong and Courageous. I think because their access to the victory and the possibility of them walking in its fulness depends on them being strong and courageous.

Courage then is defined as mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.
We must learn to find strength in God- in His promises to stand and face whatever comes our way. God has not given us the spirit of fear. He desires that His Children stand tall and face life head-on armed with his strength, stabilized by his words, anchored by faith in him. This secret informs consistent victory.
Whatever life throws at you my friends, even as you look up to God for help, He also, in turn, desires you to act and walk in strength and courage because life depends on the…liver.
