The named “whatevers”

character matters

The question of what to do has always been a very interesting one to ask, chiefly because most people generally like to do whatever they want to do, whatever they feel is right irrespective of public opinion, and usually, there nothing wrong with that. However, what if some guidelines, more like suggestions really and not rules were to be given such that it becomes easier for you to have your freedom and independence of thoughts without having to worry about being socially unacceptable or against the generally train of thought of the society?
Many years ago, a man wrote an interesting piece, he said “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”(emphasis added). So then, we see a very hands-on method of thinking that at the same time helps you retain your originality. And there are also added benefits to this package, among them is the fact that, we all generally accept the notion that thoughts control action, i mean that’s the basic theme of most “self-help motivational books”, that you can think and therefore act your way into various habits, style or characters depending on what your needs are. This is no more different, actually it is more practicable, because we do not have to do or practice things that are not familiar to us but rather these thought patterns can be exercised virtually all the time, like on our way to school, at work, in our homes, on dates and so on. For example if you want to be honest, think about honesty and honest things, if you wanna be lovely, you don’t need to hangout with the coolest clique, just basically, think about things that are lovely, let your thoughts towards yourself, others and life generally be lovely and soon voila! well I’m sure you get the gist now, so feel free to think “whatever” you like especially now that you know especially those cool things to think about.
On a final note, remember, a man is no better than the thoughts he entertains in the faculties of his mind. Think correctly, live correctly.
